Amend the Wolens amendment to CSHB 1606 by inserting the 
following new section to Article 2, appropriately numbered, and 
renumbering the subsequent sections accordingly:
	SECTION 2._____.  Chapter 253, Election Code, is amended by 
adding Subchapter G to read as follows:

SUBCHAPTER G.  CERTAIN ORGANIZATIONS
	Sec. 253.201.  RESTRICTION ON CONTRIBUTIONS BY CERTAIN 
ORGANIZATIONS.  (a)  In this section, "Texas trade association" 
means a cooperative and voluntarily joined association of business 
or professional competitors in this state designed to assist its 
members and its industry or profession in dealing with mutual 
business or professional problems and in promoting their common 
interest.
	(b)  This section applies only to a Texas trade association 
that is not a political committee.
	(c)  A Texas trade association to which this section applies 
may not knowingly make direct or indirect expenditures for the 
purpose of influencing the outcome of an election that in the 
aggregate exceed $50,000 during the period beginning on the 20th 
day before the primary or general election for state and county 
officers and ending on the day following the primary or general 
election for state and county officers.
	(d)  A person who violates this section commits an offense.  
An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.
