Amend CSHB 2292 by adding the following appropriately 
numbered SECTION to Article 1 of the bill and renumbering 
subsequent SECTIONS of the bill accordingly:
	SECTION ____.  (a)  Section 531.005, Government Code, is 
amended to read as follows:
	Sec. 531.005.  ELECTION AND TERM OF COMMISSIONER.  [(a)]  The 
commission is governed by a commissioner of health and human 
services, who is elected at the general election for state and 
county officers for a term of four years [appointed by the governor 
with the advice and consent of the senate.
	[(b)  The commissioner shall be appointed without regard to 
race, color, disability, sex, religion, age, or national origin].
	(b)  Sections 531.006 and 531.007, Government Code, are 
repealed.
