Amend CSSB 1108 (House committee report) by adding the 
following appropriately numbered SECTION to the bill and 
renumbering the subsequent SECTIONS appropriately:
	SECTION _____.  Section 39.027, Education Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
	(b-1)  The commissioner may appoint an advisory committee to 
study exemptions from and adopt recommendations for reading 
assessment instruments under this chapter, other than exemptions 
described by Subsection (b), for dyslexic students.  The State 
Board of Education may adopt the recommendations of the advisory 
committee.  The advisory committee appointed under this subsection 
must include:
		(1)  a person involved in public education;                            
		(2)  a medical specialist familiar with the diagnosis 
and treatment of dyslexic students; and
		(3)  an advocate for dyslexic students.
