Amend CSSB 1243 (Senate committee printing) as follows:                      
	(1)  Strike SECTION 5 of the bill (page 1, line 56, through 
page 2, line 39) and renumber subsequent SECTIONS of the bill 
accordingly.
	(2)  In SECTION 6 of the bill, in the recital for that section 
(page 2, line 40), strike "Effective September 1, 2005," and 
substitute "(a)".
	(3)  Between SECTIONS 6 and 7 of the bill (page 2, between 
lines 64 and 65) insert the following:
	(b)  Notwithstanding Section 824.601(b), Government Code, as 
amended by this section, the Teacher Retirement System of Texas may 
not withhold a monthly benefit payment from a retiree who:
(1)  retired under Section 824.202, Government Code, 
before January 1, 2003; and
(2)  is employed by a school district or an 
open-enrollment charter school.
