Amend CSSB 1414 as follows:                                                  
	1.  On page 1, line 27 between "duties" and "include" insert 
"primarily"
	2.  On page 1 strike lines 51-52 and substitute:                               
(3)  seeks compensation for a disease or illness 
covered by this subchapter that is discovered during employment as 
a first responder.
	3.  On page 2, line 4 between "person" and "is" insert "or the 
person's spouse"
	4.  On page 2 strike lines 9-15 and substitute:                                
(3)  A first responder who uses a presumption under 
this subchapter is entitled only to the benefits or compensation to 
which the first responder would be entitled at the time the claim is 
filed.
	5.  On page 2 strike lines 39 through 42.                                      
	6.  On page 2 strike lines 43-48 and substitute:                               
	Sec. 607.054.  TUBERCULOSIS OR RESPIRATORY ILLNESS.  A first 
responder who suffers from tuberculosis, or any other disease or 
illness of the lungs or respiratory tract that the Texas Department 
of Health determines by rule has a statistically positive 
correlation with service in the category of first responder in 
which the person was seeking benefits or compensation is employed, 
and that results in total or partial disability or death, is 
presumed to have contracted the disease or illness in the course and 
scope of employment as a first responder.
	7.  On page 2, line 55 between "responded" and "to" insert 
"regularly"
	8.  On page 2, line 58 between "is" and "associated" insert 
"known to be"
	9.  On page 2, line 59 strike "pollutants"                              
	10.  On page 2 strike line 61 through the period on line 65 
and substitute:  
	(b)  This section applies only to any type of cancer that the 
Texas Department of Health determines by rule is scientifically 
known to be caused by exposures of a first responder described in 
subsection (a)(2).
	11.  On page 3, lines 30 and 31 strike "credible evidence" 
and substitute "a preponderance of the evidence"
