DIGEST AND PURPOSE

Currently, a county judge is not allowed to select names of alternates for
public members to serve on the county's committee to review salaries and
expenses of elected county and precinct officers. As proposed, H.B. 608
authorizes a county judge to make a list of alternates to serve on the
committee, and provides for filling a vacancy on the committee.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to
a state officer, institution, or agency.

(d) Requires a vacancy in a public member position to be filled for the
unexpired part of the term by appointment from the list of alternates.
