SRC-AMY H.B. 1066 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center H.B. 1066 78R8068 EMT-DBy: Goodman (Brimer) Intergovernmental Relations 4/7/2003 Engrossed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, a municipal court technology fund, supported by a technology fee paid by a defendant, funds computer and related purchases. As proposed, H.B. 1066 authorizes the use of the fund to include the maintenance of technological enhancements, in addition to the purchase of technological enhancements, and repeals this article's expiration date. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Article 102.0172(d), Code of Criminal Procedure, authorizes the use of a fund designated by this article for maintenance of technological enhancements, in addition to the purchase of technological enhancements. SECTION 2. Repealer: Article 102.0172(f), Code of Criminal Procedure (Court Costs; Municipal Court Technology Fund, expiration date). SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 2003.
