DIGEST AND PURPOSE

Currently, the Transportation Code does not allow constables to serve as
weight enforcement officers. Some counties that experience more road
traffic than others may need extra weight enforcement officers to assist
in the inspection of vehicles in that county. H.B. 1186 gives the county
commissioners court in a county with a population of 40,000 or more the
ability to designate county constables as weight enforcement officers.
