BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Governor Perry's OneStar Foundation will encourage more Texans to
volunteer and allow them to positively impact their communities. The

community organizations and resources available to them, and allow those
organizations to partner with the state in addressing the needs of all
Texans. The foundation will also incorporate the functions of the Texas
Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, including Americorps.
HB 2277 repeals Section 302.021(a)(15) of the Labor Code and Section
