SRC-VRA H.B. 2334 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research CenterH.B. 2334 78R6980 ATP-DBy: Turner (Ellis, Rodney) Administration 5/8/2003 Engrossed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Current law allows voters of an area annexed for limited purposes by a municipality to vote on the mayor and city council but not on any other elective municipal office. H.B. 2334 adds to current law the right of such voters to vote on the elective office of city controller. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 43.130(a), Local Government Code, to include the election or recall of the controller, if the office of controller is an elective position of the municipality, relating to voting for the elective municipal office of controller in areas annexed for limited purposes by certain municipalities. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2003.
