DIGEST AND PURPOSE 

Currently, a weight or measure is required to be inspected and tested for
correctness at least once every three years.  H.B. 2382 requires a weight
or measure which meets certain conditions to be inspected and tested for
correctness at least once every four years, rather than three years, by a
sealer. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to
a state officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 13.101(a), Agriculture Code, to require a
weight or measure to be inspected and tested for correctness by a sealer
if it meets certain conditions at least once every four, rather than
three, years or more often as required by the Department of Agriculture. 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: September 1, 2003.
