SRC-VRA H.B. 2498 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center H.B. 2498 78R2780 KLA-DBy: Luna (Hinojosa) Jurisprudence 5/4/2003 Engrossed DIGEST AND PURPOSE H.B. 2498 requires the County Court at Law No. #5 of Nueces County to give preference to and jurisdiction of any proceeding involving an order relating to a child for whom the court has appointed a temporary or permanent managing conservator, in addition to the other matters over which the court has jurisdiction. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 25.1801(c), Government Code, to require the County Court at Law No. #5 of Nueces County to give preference to any proceeding involving an order relating to a child in the possession or custody of the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services or for whom the court has appointed a temporary or permanent managing conservator. SECTION 2. Amends Section 25.1802(r), Government Code, to make a conforming change. SECTION 2[sic]. Makes application of Sections 25.1801 and 25.1802, Government Code, as amended by this Act, prospective. SECTION 3. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2003.
