SRC-JLB H.B. 3033 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center H.B. 3033 78R10024 YDB-DBy: Ellis (Staples) Jurisprudence 5/20/2003 Engrossed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, the Texas Government Code authorizes district judges in the 12th, 258th, and 278th district courts, among others, to appoint a bailiff. H.B. 3033 adds the 75th and 253rd district courts to the list of district courts the judges of which may appoint a bailiff under the Texas Government Code. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 53.002(f), Government Code, to authorize the judges of the 12th, 75th, 253rd, 258th, and 278th district courts to each appoint a bailiff. SECTION 2. Amends Section 53.009(k), Government Code, to make conforming changes. SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 2003.
