H.B. 3605 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS H.B. 3605 By: Keffer, Jim Judicial Affairs Committee Report (Unamended) BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The 77th Legislature created a county court at law in Hood County. H.B. 3605 expands the court's jurisdiction to include certain contested guardianship matters. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. ANALYSIS H.B. 3605 amends the Government Code to provide that a county court at law in Hood County has concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in contested guardianship matters under Section 606(b), Texas Probate Code. EFFECTIVE DATE September 1, 2003.
