DIGEST AND PURPOSE

Currently, a district attorney may maintain an independent law practice to
supplement his or her pay unless that office is listed in the Professional
Prosecutors Act, which provides additional state funding to supplement a
prosecutor's salary in exchange for prohibiting the prosecutor from the
private practice of law. S.B. 88 adds the district attorney for the 25th
Judicial District to the list of prosecutors who are subject to the
professional prosecutors law.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to
a state officer, institution, or agency.
