SRC-LBB, TJG S.B. 107 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 107 78R692 YDB-DBy: Averitt Jurisprudence 3/5/2003 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, the 19th, 54th, 74th, and 170th district courts have concurrent jurisdiction in McLennan County. McLennan County has a growth rate of three percent a year, leading to increasing administrative difficulties and overloads at local courts. As proposed, S.B. 107 will provide an additional district court for McLennan County. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Chapter 24C, Government Code, by adding Section 24.558, as follows: Sec. 24.558. 414TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (MCLENNAN COUNTY). Provides that the 414th Judicial District is composed of McLennan County. SECTION 2. Provides that the 414th Judicial District is created and this Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
