SRC-JLB, LBB S.B. 167 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 167 78R2012 QS-DBy: Shapiro Jurisprudence 2/6/2003 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, Collin County is experiencing record-breaking growth, with 25,000 to 30,000 new residents moving into the county each year. The county's five courts-at-law serve more than 549,000 people, and new case filings exceed case dispositions, thus extending the docket. When new case filings increase, the age of cases also increases. As proposed, S.B. 167 creates an additional county courtat-law to deal with the exploding growth and increased case filings. Creates the County Court at Law No. 6 of Collin County and provides that this Act takes effect January 1, 2005.
