DIGEST AND PURPOSE

The name Phantom Warriors has special significance to Fort Hood, the
current home of III Corps. Highway 195 is a primary route used by Fort
Hood to access Interstate 35 and the coast during deployments. As
proposed, S.B. 233 designates a portion of Highway 195 from the southern
municipal boundary of Florence to the end of Highway 195 in Killeen as the
Phantom Warriors Highway in recognition of the soldiers at III Corps and
Fort Hood. This bill also calls for name markers at each end of the
highway and at any appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
