SRC-LBB S.B. 613 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 613 78R230 JD-DBy: Nelson Criminal Justice 4/7/2003 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 613 adds one term to the Transportation Code and corrects an obsolete Health & Safety Code cross-reference. This bill assures that statutory terminology that is ultimately used in determining whether a crime has been committed is accurate and consistent. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 521.342(a), Transportation Code, to replace Chapter 484 with Chapter 485 (Abusive Volatile Chemicals), Health and Safety Code, relating to an offense involving the manufacture, delivery, possession, transportation, or use of an abusable volatile chemical. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2003.
