DIGEST AND PURPOSE

Currently, Texas suffers from a teacher shortage, which is an issue of
retention rather than recruitment. Some of the most common complaints
from teachers who leave the profession are the amount of required
non-instructional duties and excessive or unnecessary meetings. As
proposed, S.B. 1125 requires the campus-level committee to approve all
duties to which a teacher can be assigned outside regular hours of
instruction.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to
a state officer, institution, or agency.
