SRC-VRA S.B. 1327 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1327 78R793 ATP-FBy: Gallegos Intergovernmental Relations 3/28/2003 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Assistant county auditors are currently capped at a salary increase of 5 percent per year. This has created internal inequity and affected recruitment efforts in many counties. As proposed, S.B. 1327 provides counties the flexibility to determine appropriate pay by deleting a reference to the salary of an assistant county auditor from current Texas law. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 111.013, Local Government Code, to delete current text relating to the salary of an assistant county auditor. SECTION 2. Amends Section 111.044, Local Government Code, to make a conforming change. SECTION 3. Amends Section 111.074, Local Government Code, to make a conforming change. SECTION 4. Effective date: July 1, 2003, or September 1, 2003.
