SRC-MSY S.B. 1388 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1388 By: Armbrister State Affairs 4/1/2003 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Current Texas law allows certain law enforcement officials to make application to remove certain personal information from the public record. As proposed, S.B. 1388 makes public documents filed with the county clerk exempt from such requests. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 552.117, Government Code, by creating Subsection (a) from existing text and adding Subsection (b) to provide that all documents filed with a county clerk are exempt from this section. SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2003.
