SRC-JEC S.B. 1482 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1482 78R2462 SGA-DBy: Ogden State Affairs 4/9/2003 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, a law enforcement or custodial officer is eligible to retire and receive a standard retirement annuity after 20 years of service. As proposed, S.B. 1482 creates an incentive for seasoned law enforcement officers to continue working by adding to the retirement annuity for an officer with 30 years of service. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 814.107(b), Government Code, to set forth formulas for computing service credits for law enforcement and custodial officers in addition to the standard service retirement annuity. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2003.
