DIGEST AND PURPOSE 

In May 2000, the Houston Community College System added the Missouri City
municipality into its jurisdiction as a result of a municipal election.
Currently, Texas law does not place Missouri City, which is within Fort
Bend Independent School District, within a community college district.  As
proposed, S.B. 1609 includes the part of the Fort Bend Independent School
District that is within the Missouri City municipality in the Houston
Community College System District service area. 


RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to
a state officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 130.182, Education code, to include the part of
the Fort Bend Independent School District  that is within the Missouri
City municipality, in the Houston Community College System District
service area.
