DIGEST AND PURPOSE

Currently, the salaries of district judges in Travis County are paid by
both the state and the county. Different provisions limit those salaries
to $2,000 less than that of a justice of the supreme court and $1,000 less
than an associate court of appeals justice in Travis County. C.S.S.B. 1797
removes the cap on the amount the Travis County commissioners court is
authorized to pay district judges having jurisdiction in Travis County.
