DIGEST AND PURPOSE 

Current Texas law instructs the state to pay up to $1,600 for each civil
commitment proceeding. C.S.S.B. 1834 increases the cap on state payment
for a civil commitment case from $1,600 to $2,500. 
 
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to
a state officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 841.146(c), Health and Safety Code, to increase
the cap on state payments for a civil commitment proceeding conducted
under Subchapter D from $1,600 to $2,500. 

SECTION 2.  Effective date:  September 1, 2003.
