SRC-JLB S.B. 1915 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1915 By: Armbrister Jurisprudence 5/5/2003 As Filed DIGEST AND PURPOSE Currently, the 9th District Court begins its term in Montgomery County on the first Monday in January and the first Monday in July and its work in Waller County on the 10th Monday after the first Monday in January and the 12th Monday after the first Monday in July. As proposed, S.B. 1915 allows the 9th District Court to begin work in both Montgomery and Waller counties on the first Monday in January and the first Monday in July. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 24.109(c), Government Code, to provide that the terms of the 9th District Court begin in Montgomery County on the first Monday in January and the first Monday in July and in Waller County on the first Monday in January and the first Monday in July. Deletes text providing that the court's terms in Waller County begin on the 10th Monday after the first Monday in January and the 12th Monday after the first Monday in July. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2003.
