DIGEST AND PURPOSE

The Athens Municipal Water Authority (authority) was created to serve the
City of Athens. Since the authority's inception the City of Athens has
grown tremendously, yet the special laws creating the district have not
been updated to include all of the annexed territory of the City of
Athens. S. B. 1928 validates the expansion of the Athens Municipal Water
Authority's district to include all areas previously annexed by the City
of Athens so that the authority serves all areas included in the City of
Athens.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to
a state officer, institution, or agency.

Legislature, Regular Session, 1957, as follows:

section do not apply to any annexation or redefinition of boundaries that
meet certain conditions on the effective date of this Act.
