S.B. 1942 78(R) BILL ANALYSIS

S.B. 1942
By: Wentworth
Higher Education
Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, the name of Southwest Texas State University implies a
regionalism that is detrimental to the school. Changing the university's
name to Texas State University--San Marcos would more accurately reflect
its location and stature. As proposed, S.B. 1942 changes the name of
Southwest Texas State University to Texas State University--San Marcos.
