A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the pilot program for reduced undergraduate tuition 
during a summer term or session at certain institutions of higher 
education.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Sections 54.0514(d) and (e), Education Code, are 
amended to read as follows:
	(d)  This section applies to an institution listed in 
Subsection (a) only if the legislature specifically appropriates 
money to the institution for the state fiscal biennium ending 
August 31, 2005 [2003], to cover the tuition revenue lost to the 
institution by the application of this section.
	(e)  This section applies only to a summer term or session in 
2004 [2002] or 2005 [2003].  This section expires January 1, 2006
[2004].
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
