A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the authority of the Texas Department of Transportation  
to contract using exclusive development agreements.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 222.103(j), Transportation Code, is 
amended to read as follows:
	(j)  Notwithstanding Subsection (i), the Texas Turnpike 
Authority division of the department, or a successor agency, may 
enter into exclusive development agreements on [four] projects 
[before March 1, 2004.  This subsection expires March 1, 2004].
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
