A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to posting requirements for certain personal fitness 
instructors.  
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Subtitle M, Title 3, Occupations Code, is 
amended  by adding Chapter 703 to read as follows:

CHAPTER 703. PERSONAL FITNESS INSTRUCTORS
	Sec. 703.001.  DEFINITIONS.  In this chapter:                           
		(1)  "Health spa" has the meaning assigned by Section 
702.003(4).    
		(2)  "Personal fitness instructor" means a person who 
practices personal fitness training for compensation.
		(3)  "Personal fitness training" means physical 
fitness testing and the design and implementation of an exercise or 
weight training program for an individual at a health spa.
	Sec. 703.002.  POSTING OF CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING.  Each 
personal fitness instructor shall post in the health spa facility 
at which the training is performed any certificate that the 
instuctor has earned through completion of a training program 
offered by a nationally recognized entity that offers training and 
certification to personal fitness instructors.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
