A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to prohibiting the Parks and Wildlife Department from disclosing to the public certain personal information about persons to whom the department has issued a license.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 552, Government Code, is amended by adding Section 552.141 to read as follows: Sec. 552.141. PROHIBITION ON DISCLOSURE OF CERTAIN PERSONAL INFORMATION BY PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT. (a) Notwithstanding this chapter or any other law of this state, the Parks and Wildlife Department may not disclose to a member of the public the physical address, mailing address, telephone number, electronic or photographic image, or social security number of a person to whom the department has issued a license. (b) Subsection (a) applies to a request for any information described by that subsection, regardless of whether the request is made under this chapter or another law. (c) Subsection (a) does not prohibit the disclosure of the zip code assigned to the physical address or the mailing address of a person to whom the Parks and Wildlife Department has issued a license. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
