A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the renewal of a cosmetology license.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Sections 1602.352(c) and (d), Occupations Code,
are amended to read as follows:
(c) If a person's license has been expired for 30 days or
less, the person may renew the license by:
(1) submitting a completed application form
prescribed by the commission; and
(2) paying the required renewal fee [and a delinquency
fee in the amount set by the commission].
(d) Except as provided by Subsection (f), if a person's
license has been expired for more than 30 days but not more than
five years, the person may renew the license by:
(1) submitting an application;
(2) paying the required renewal fee for each year the
license has been expired; and
(3) paying a delinquency fee in an [the] amount equal
to $30 for each year or part of a year that the license has been
expired [set by the commission].
SECTION 2. (a) This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
(b) The change in law made by this Act applies only to a
license under Chapter 1602, Occupations Code, that expires on or
after the effective date of this Act. A license under Chapter 1602,
Occupations Code, that expires before the effective date of this
Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the license
expired, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
