A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to notifying a parent of a student's class schedule in 
public school.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Chapter 26, Education Code, is amended by adding 
Section 26.013 to read as follows:
	Sec. 26.013.  PARENTAL NOTIFICATION OF STUDENT'S CLASS 
SCHEDULE.  A school district shall provide timely written 
notification to a student's parent of the student's class schedule 
and of any subsequent changes made to the student's class schedule.
	SECTION 2.  This Act applies beginning with the 2003-2004 
school year.       
	SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
