H.B. No. 816




AN ACT

relating to recognizing the week that includes the third Friday in 
May as Transportation Week.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Chapter 662, Government Code, is amended by 
adding Subchapter E to read as follows:

SUBCHAPTER E. RECOGNITION WEEKS
	Sec. 662.151.  TRANSPORTATION WEEK.  The week that includes 
the third Friday in May is Transportation Week in recognition of 
National Transportation Week and the contributions of the 
transportation industry to the State of Texas.
	SECTION 2.  The chapter heading to Chapter 662, Government 
Code, is amended to read as follows:

CHAPTER 662. HOLIDAYS AND RECOGNITION DAYS, WEEKS, AND MONTHS
	SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
