A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the salaries of judges of county courts at law and 
county criminal courts in Tarrant County.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 25.2222(f), Government Code, is amended 
to read as follows:
	(f)  The judge of a county court at law shall be paid an 
annual salary in an [equal to the] amount that is not less than
$1,000 less than the total annual salary, including supplements and 
salary increases, paid any district judge in the county.
	SECTION 2.  Section 25.2223(f), Government Code, is amended 
to read as follows:
	(f)  The judge of a county criminal court shall be paid an 
annual salary in an [equal to the] amount that is not less than
$1,000 less than the total annual salary, including supplements and 
salary increases, paid any district judge in the county.
	SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect October 1, 2003, and 
applies only to a salary payment made on or after that date. A 
salary payment made before October 1, 2003, is governed by the law 
in effect on the date the salary payment was made, and that law is 
continued in effect for that purpose.
