A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the use of public school educators' days of service for
which instruction is not required.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 11.253(e), Education Code, is amended
to read as follows:
(e) In accordance with the administrative procedures
established under Section 11.251(b), the campus-level committee
shall be involved in decisions in the areas of planning, budgeting,
curriculum, staffing patterns, staff development, and school
organization. The campus-level committee must approve:
(1) the portions of the campus plan addressing campus
staff development needs; and
(2) the use of educators' days of service for which
instruction is not required, if the campus is rated exemplary under
Chapter 39.
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2003-2004
school year.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
