A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the establishment of an offense for failing to return to an employer items that may be used to impersonate a security officer. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. The heading to Section 1702.387, Occupations Code, is amended to read as follows: Sec. 1702.387. FAILURE TO SURRENDER CERTAIN ITEMS [DOCUMENTS]; OFFENSE. SECTION 2. Section 1702.387, Occupations Code, is amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: (c) A person commits an offense if the person fails to surrender immediately on demand, or not later than the seventh day after the date of terminating employment, any uniform, badge, or other item of equipment issued to the person by an employer that could be used to impersonate a commissioned or noncommissioned security officer. SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
