A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to transacting business by the Ninth Court of Appeals.               
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 22.210, Government Code, is amended by 
amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsections (c) and (d) to read 
as follows:
	(b)  The City of Beaumont shall furnish and equip suitable 
rooms for the court and the justices without expense to the state 
except that Montgomery County shall furnish and equip suitable 
rooms for the court and justices without expense to the state for 
all proceedings that occur in Montgomery County.
	(c)  The court shall transact its business in Jefferson 
County, except that all cases originating in Montgomery, San 
Jacinto, or Liberty County shall be heard and transacted at the 
county seat in Montgomery County.
	(d)  Notwithstanding Subsection (c), all appeals in the 
Ninth Court of Appeals must be filed in Jefferson County.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
