A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to notice of a right to file a civil action under the Texas 
Commission on Human Rights Act.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 21.002, Labor Code, is amended by adding 
Subdivision (11-a) to read as follows:
		(11-a)  "Notice of the right to file a civil action" 
means a notice issued by:
			(A)  the commission under Section 21.252 or 
21.253; or              
			(B)  the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission 
under 42 U.S.C. Section 2000e-5(f)(1).
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003, and 
applies only to a complaint filed with the Commission on Human 
Rights on or after that date.
