A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the approval of certain expenditures by an incumbent
county commissioner who was not reelected.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 130.908, Local Government Code, is
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 130.908. APPROVAL OF SPENDING BY CERTAIN COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS. If a person other than an incumbent county
commissioner is elected to the office of county commissioner of a
county with a population of less than 100,000 [50,000], during the
time following the date the results of the official canvass of the
election returns are announced, the commissioners court must
approve any expenditure [expenditures] by the incumbent county
commissioner who was not reelected that is over an amount set by the
commissioners court.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
