A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the approval of expenditures of certain incumbent
county or precinct officers.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 130.908, Local Government Code, is
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 130.908. APPROVAL OF SPENDING BY CERTAIN COUNTY AND
PRECINCT OFFICERS [COMMISSIONERS]. If [a person other than] an
incumbent county or precinct officer [commissioner] is not
renominated or is not reelected [elected] to the county or precinct
office [of county commissioner] of a county [with a population of
less than 50,000], during the time following the date the results of
the official canvass of the primary or election returns are
announced, the commissioners court must approve any expenditure
[expenditures] by the incumbent county or precinct officer
[commissioner] who was not renominated or reelected that is over an
amount set by the commissioners court.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
