A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to group and blanket accident and health insurance.                  
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 1(c), Article 3.51–6, Insurance Code, is 
amended to read as follows:
	(c)  An insurer issuing a group policy under this article 
shall furnish to the policyholder for delivery to each employee or 
member of the insured group a certificate of insurance which shall 
contain a statement, in summary form, of the essential features of 
the insurance coverage of such employee or member and to whom 
benefits are payable.  If dependents are included in the coverage, 
only one certificate need be issued for each family unit.  By 
agreement between the insurer and the policyholder, the certificate 
of insurance may be delivered electronically.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
