A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to requiring a separate area in a public library for adult 
computer use.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Subtitle A, Title 10, Local Government Code, is 
amended by adding Chapter 309 to read as follows:

CHAPTER 309.  MUNICIPAL LIBRARIES
	Sec. 309.001.  AREA FOR ADULT COMPUTER USE.  A municipal 
library shall establish separate areas in which children under the 
age of 18 may use computers and in which adults may use computers.
	SECTION 2.  Subchapter A, Chapter 323, Local Government 
Code, is amended by adding Section 323.014 to read as follows:
	Sec. 323.014.  AREA FOR ADULT COMPUTER USE.  A library 
authorized by this subchapter shall establish separate areas in 
which children under the age of 18 may use computers and in which 
adults may use computers.
	SECTION 3.  Subchapter D, Chapter 326, Local Government 
Code, is amended by adding Section 326.073 to read as follows:
	Sec. 326.073.  AREA FOR ADULT COMPUTER USE.  The district 
shall establish separate areas in each library created in the 
district in which children under the age of 18 may use computers and 
in which adults may use computers.
	SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
