A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the disclosure of certain voter registration
information.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The heading to Section 13.004, Election Code, is
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 13.004. RECORDING AND DISCLOSURE OF TELEPHONE, [NUMBER
OR] SOCIAL SECURITY, DRIVER'S LICENSE, OR PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION
NUMBER BY REGISTRAR.
SECTION 2. Section 13.004, Election Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
(c) A social security number, Texas driver's license
number, or number of a personal identification card issued by the
Department of Public Safety furnished on a registration application
is confidential and does not constitute public information for
purposes of Chapter 552, Government Code. The registrar shall
ensure that a social security number, Texas driver's license
number, or number of a personal identification card issued by the
Department of Public Safety is excluded from disclosure.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
