A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to enrollment qualifications for certain law enforcement 
training programs.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 1701.255, Occupations Code, is amended 
by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
	(d)  The commission may not adopt a rule, or implement a 
previously adopted rule, that requires a person who enrolls in a  
training program under Section 1701.251 to have an associate's 
degree before or after enrollment in the program in order to be 
eligible for a license under this chapter.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
