A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to providing a physical address for an application or
ballot to be delivered to the early voting clerk.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 84.001(d), Election Code, is amended to
read as follows:
(d) An applicant may not use an application form that is
furnished to the applicant unless the application form is printed
or stamped with:
(1) the name or office or official title of the early
voting clerk as addressee; [and]
(2) the clerk's official mailing address; and
(3) the clerk's physical address if different than the
official mailing address.
SECTION 2. Section 86.013(a), Election Code, is amended to
read as follows:
(a) "Carrier Envelope for Early Voting Ballot," the name and
official title of the early voting clerk as addressee, [and] the
clerk's official mailing address, and, if different than the
official mailing address, the clerk's physical address must be
printed on the face of each official carrier envelope for a ballot
to be voted by mail.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2003, and
applies only to early voting by mail for an election ordered on or
after that date.
