COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1 By: Shapiro
Amend H.B. No. 2072 as follows:
In SECTION 1 of the bill, in proposed Section 31.104 (e),
Education Code between "textbook" and the "that", insert "or
instructional technology"
A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to payment by teachers for missing textbooks in public
schools.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 31.104, Education Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
(e) The board of trustees of a school district may not
require an employee of the district to pay for a textbook that is
stolen, misplaced, or not returned by a student.
SECTION 2. Section 31.104(e), Education Code, as added by
this Act, applies beginning with the 2003-2004 school year.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
