A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the duties of the district attorney in Washington and Burleson counties. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 43.108, Government Code, is amended to read as follows: Sec. 43.108. 21ST JUDICIAL DISTRICT. (a) The voters of Washington and Burleson counties elect a district attorney for the 21st Judicial District who represents the state in that district court only in those counties. (b) The district attorney also represents the state and performs the duties of district attorney before the 335th District Court in Washington and Burleson counties. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2003.
